Issue Position

North Dakota is blessed with abundant natural resources that need to be conserved and protected. Flaring of natural gas in the Bakken should be prohibited until pipeline systems are in place to capture this finite natural resource. Greater oversight of saltwater containment systems and oil pipelines is desperately needed to prevent spills that sterilize farmland and threaten groundwater. And investments in ethanol and biofuels production, along with wind and solar energy, should be a state priority.
